The Reserve Bank of India is soon going circulate Mahatma Gandhi (new-series) Rs 100 banknotes featuring the signature of Governor Shaktikanta Das. The designs of these Rs 100 banknotes remain unchanged and will be similar to the notes of the same denomination which are currently in circulation. All Rs. 100 banknotes issued by RBI will retain their legal tender status.
Born on 26th February 1957, Shaktikanta Das is a graduate in History from St. Stephen's college in Delhi and joined as an Indian Administrative Service officer of Tamil Nadu cadre in the year 1980. He is the 25th governor of the RBI and was a member of the Fifteenth Finance Commission of India and India's Sherpa to the G20. Shaktikanta has served multiple significant positions in his career like Economic Affairs Secretary of India, Revenue Secretary of India, Fertilizers Secretary of India etc.
