Bangladesh's Stamps on World Communications Year

On 21st December 1983, Bangla Post issued a set of three stamps to commemorate the World Communications Year.

In November 1981, the General Assembly of the United Nations proclaimed the year 1983 World Communications Year: Development of Communications Infrastructures. In November 1981, the General Assembly of the United Nations proclaimed the year 1983 World Communications Year: Development of Communications Infrastructures.

The UN Resolution invited the Member States, UN specialized Agencies, governmental and non-governmental organizations and users of communications services to participate actively in the fulfillment of the objectives of the Year. Hence, as a member of the United Nations, Bangla Post issued a set of three stamps to commemorate events.

- The 50 Bangladeshi paisa stamp depicts an ancient system of Postal delivery when the post was delivered by the special mailmen.
- The stamp with the denomination of 5 Bangladeshi taka features the stages of development of the transportation service. The stamp from bottom to top depicts a ship, railway and then an airplane.
- The last stamp, worth 10 Bangladeshi takas, depicts the first and the recent stages of the communication system. The stamp depicts the earliest transportation system and the mobile tower – the most recent stage of the system.
