Remembering Acharya JB Kripalani

Today, on this day in 1982, Acharya J. B. Kripalani, a patriot, intellectual, and founder of Kisan Mazdoor Dal passed away. He is best known for his holding the chair of the President of the Indian National Congress during the chaotic phase of 1947.

Acharya Kripalani was born on November 11, 1888, in the Sind district of Hyderabad. After completion of his education from Fergusson College, he started his career as a teacher. Later on, he involved in India’s freedom movement.

An active participant of many socialist and independence movement and campaigns, he suffered imprisonment many times. He was active participants of Salt Satyagraha and Quit Indian Movement.

His notable role during the freedom struggle and emphasis on public welfare, equality, education, and justice will never be forgotten. To commemorate this legendary India Post has issued 60 Paisa commemorative postage stamps in 1989.
