Indian banknotes reflect the popular and enchanting monuments of India. Recently Indian government as released many denominations in Paper currency illustrating monuments like Rani-Ki-Vav, Redford, Hampi, Konark, etc. But their also older banknote who consist monuments like the 100 rupee note released on 1st April 1984, it depicts Brihadeeswarar Temple on its Vignette.
This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and was built by the Chola king Raja Raja Chola I. It is under the protection of UNESCO World Heritage sites and also known as Tanjore temple or Great Living Chola temple. Brihadeeswarar Temple.
