First Stamps of Kosovo

First stamps of the country of Kosovo were issued on 15th March 2000 which includes a set of five stamps.Kosovo, officially the Republic of Kosovo is a partially-recognized state and disputed territory in Southeastern Europe. Kosovo is landlocked in the center of the Balkans and bordered by the uncontested territory of Serbia, North Macedonia, Albania, and Montenegro.
Kosovo was part of Kingdom of Yugoslavia. After the end of World War I, Kosovo was split into four counties. Inter-ethnic tensions continued to worsen in Kosovo throughout the 1980s. n July 1990, the Kosovo Albanians proclaimed the existence of the Republic of Kosova and declared it a sovereign and independent state in September 1992.
By the end of the year, 2000 Kosovo was separated. Today, Kosovo is a partially-recognized state and disputed territory. However, Kosovo started issuing to its own stamps. First stamps were issued on 15th March 2000.
A set of five stamps were issued featuring the local art, archeology, religion, and map of Kosovo. Stamps with the denominations of 0.20, 0.30, 0.50, 1 and 2 German marks were issued with the depiction Mosaic tile depicting peace, Dardanian Idol, Illyrian Coin, Statue of Mother Theresa and Map of Kosovo respectively.
