The United States of America had issued this commemorative coin in the year 2013 with the theme of Mount Rushmore. This quarter dollar is the fifth quarter dollar issued in the year 2013 and it is 20th overall Quarter Dollar issued in America Beautiful Quarters Program.

Mount Rushmore is often considered as the symbol of American Democracy. It is also considered a symbol of freedom and hope for people from all cultures and backgrounds. Mount Rushmore National Memorial is a place surrounded by the beauty of Black Hills of South Dakota.

The obverse of this coin depicts the image of Thomas Jefferson the first president of the United States of America. The reverse of the coin is inspired by photos of men who are adding the final details to Thomas Jefferson's face.
