Datia was a Princely State located in a Bundelkh and Agency of Central India during the British Raj. Datia was founded in the year 1735 CE by Bhagwan Das, son of Narsingh Dev of the Orchha Royal house.
Govind Singh ruled the Datia state from 1907 to 1948 AD. During the reign he issued various gold and silver coins.
The above shown silver Nazarana half Mohur is a beautiful master piece issued during Maharja Sri Govind Singh’s reign. The obverse of a coin depicts the portrait of Maharaja Sri Govind singh with a continuous legend in Roman script within the dotted border. while reverse of a coin bore the Coat of Arms, of the state.
This extremely fine and very rare coin was sold for INR 1, 00,000 by Classical Numismatics Gallery in an auction held on 23rd April 2011.
