Lion of England On £100 Coin

2016-03-30 Wed

“The Queen’s Beasts” which are stone sculptures of royal animal symbols, originally created for the Queen’s coronation in 1953, will now find an even more prestigious place – the nation’s coins, starting with the English lion. These bullion coins come in £100, £25 and £5 denominations. The other beasts include the Unicorn of Scotland, the Red Dragon of Wales, and the Griffin of Edward III.

The designs are inspired by the original Queen’s Beasts, both the original versions in Canada and the Portland Stone replicas. The gold coins come in £100 and £25 denominations, while the £5 coin is made in silver.

The Queen's Beast’s coins are made of solid gold or silver and are designed to allow people to invest in precious metals.
