Highlights at Upcoming Cherrystone Auctions

2019-02-08 Fri

The Cherrystone Philatelic Auctioneers would be offering various interesting world stamps on 20th and 21st February at the Cherrystone galleries in New York City. The Winterfell collection of German World War II occupation issues and Brian Pottow collection of Great Britain will be up for sale.

The Brian Pottow collection includes a £1 brown lilac Queen Victoria stamp issued in 1878. The colours are rich, perforations are sharp and the design is well-centred, according to the auction house. An unused stamp of this type has a listed market value of $90,000. However, examples with clear margins have a much higher value. This particular stamp is being offered at a minimum bid of $35,000.

Apart from that, several unused and used 1840 Penny Black stamps are also going to be auctioned. An unused single and a pair of the 1840 1d black Official “VR” stamps are also something to look out for.

The Dr. I.G. Kulczycky collection comprises some of the finest stamps of Western Ukraine. Over 400 lots of stamps and covers, starting with stamps from Austrian monarchy to the Soviet Ukraine issues, would be presented.
