Royal Mint’s first ever £100 silver coin features Big Ben, London’s iconic clock tower. The new coin is similar to the £20 for £20 silver coin but is larger in size and contains more silver.Officially known as Elizabeth Tower, Big Ben was completed in 1859 and started ticking on May 31. The main Great Bell was heard for the first time on July 11th.
The reverse shows the Gothic-style tower from street level from the view of a person gazing up towards the sky. The other side bears the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II.
Struck in two ounces of 99.9% fine silver, this coin weighs 62.86 grams, has a diameter of 40 mm, and is available for purchase against its face value.
