Hari Hara I Gold Pagoda Listed For INR 18,000

This Gold pagoda issued by Hari Hara I of Vijaynagar Empire is listed for INR 19,000 in the upcoming auction of Todywalla which will be held in Ahmadabad on 9th February 2019.Hari Hara I was the ruler of Vijaynagar Empire, he was the founder of Sangam dynasty, the first dynasty among the four dynasties that had ruled Vijayanagar Empire. Hari Hara I was associated with the Hoysala Kingdom, a nephew of Hosayala king Veera Ballala III had married to the daughter of Harihara I. With the reference of some of the inscription it was also found that Hari Hara I was also referred as ‘‘Karnataka Vidhya Vilas’ meaning ‘Master of Great Knowledge and Skills’ and ‘Arirayavibhada’ (fire of enemy king).
This rare gold pagoda weighs around 3.3g. The obverse of this coin depicts the image of running warrior towards the right. The reverse of the coin is inscribed with ‘Sri Vira Harihara’.
