National Law Enforcement Officer Memorial Commemorative Coin

The National Law Enforcement Officer Memorial was build up on 15th October 1991 in Washington D.C; the United States to honour more than 14,000 officers who died in the line of duty throughout American history. This memorial is featured with four bronze Lion and two male and female each of them watching over a pair of lion cubs. The adult lion is sculpted by Raymond Kaskey and the cubs were design by George Carr. An inscription on the memorial by Vivian Eney, survivor, says, “It is not how these officers died that made them heroes, it is how they lived.The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund (NLEOMF) was established by former US Representative Mario Biaggi, a 23-year New York City police veteran. The United States of America had issued this one dollar commemorative coin, this coin commemorates the sacrifice of law enforcement officers and their families in preserving public safety.
The obverse of this coin based on the photo taken by Larry Ruggeri showing two officers Robert Chelsey and Kelcy Stefansson taking a rubbing of ellow officer’s name from the National Law Enforcement Memorial Wall.
The reverse of this coin shows the official Emblem of the National Law Enforcement Memorial with a shield and solitary rose. The shield represents all law enforcement officers, and the rose represents the emblematic of the officers; Sacrifice and Dedication.
