Andhra was one of the Janapadas during the ancient period in India. Today it is situated between Godavari and Krishna River. Dhanyakataka (Today’s Bezwada) was its capital during ancient period.

Ancient Indian text like ‘Mahabharata’ has a mention ‘Andhra’ as a country of South India. Andhra is also mention in ‘Aitareya Brahmana’ and in ‘Shatapatha Brahmana’.
