Tipu Sultan Gold Pagoda Sold For INR 20,000

This gold pagoda which weighs around 3.4g, minted in Nagar was sold for INR 20,000 in Oswal Auction House held in Pune on 15th December 2018. This gold Pagoda was issued by Tipu Sultan ‘the king of Mysore.Tipu Sultan was the son of Hyder Ali and Fatima Fakhr Khan. They had initially named their son Fateh Khan. He was later renamed as Tipu Sultan, after the local saint Tipu Mastan Aulia. The full name of Tipu Sultan was Fateh Ali Khan Shahab.
The obverse of this coin is inscribed as ‘Huwa As- sultan Al-Adil Sanah’. The reverse of the coin is inscribed with Persian letter ‘He’ with regnal year 3 and mint name Nagar.
