Shah Jahan Gold Mohur Listed For INR 1,75,000

This beautiful coin was issued by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan (King of the world). After succeeding his father Jahangir in the year 1628 AD, he became the 5th Mughal Emperor and ruled till 1658 AD. The real name of Shah Jahan was ‘Khurram’; he took the name Shah Jahan when he ascended to the throne.This beautiful gold mohur was issued by Shah Jahan from the mint Akbarabad during the 12th year of his reign in the Hijri year 1048; weighs around 11g. The obverse of the coin is inscribed as ‘Shah Jahan Badshah Ghazi’ with AH Date and RY within the quatrefoil, and ‘Shihabuddin Muhammad Sahib Quiran Shani’ and mint name written in the margin around. And the reverse of the coin is inscribed as ‘Kalima’ in the quatrefoil and the name of four Caliphs in the margin.
This gold mohur is listed for INR 1,75,000 in the upcoming auction of Oswal Auction house which will be in Pune on 15th December 2018. This time Oswal Auction House will be celebrating their Platinum Jubilee i.e this will be 75th Auction of Oswal Auction house.
