Aditya Vikram Birla- An industrialist of extraordinary vision was born on 14th November 1943. Aditya was a renowned Indian industrialist and former Chairman of one of India’s biggest multinational corporations- the Aditya Birla Group.

Aditya was born into a family known for capitalist brilliance. His father Basant Kumar Birla was the prominent industrialist and Grandfather Ghyansham Das Birla was an associate of Mohandas K. Gandhi.

He boldly ventured into overseas territories and set up 19 companies in different countries. These companies operated in sectors like textiles, viscose staple fibre, carbon black, chemicals, and petrol refining, which were at the core of the global economy.

Aditya Birla made a pioneering contribution to the expression of Indian economic activity beyond the country’s borders. He was the man who integrated the Indian economy with the world economy. To honouring him as “India’s first global industrialist”, India Postal Department has issued commemorative postage Stamp.
