Coin Design Highlights “Temptation of Jesus”
2018-11-05 Mon
Four coins from the famous Biblical Series have been released this year by Scottsdale Mint in association with APMEX. The fifth coin or the 23rd release of the entire series was issued recently based on the theme “The Temptation of Jesus”. The coin features the devil asking Jesus to worship him from a mountain. The earlier releases highlighted stories from the Bible like the chariot of fire, the three wise men, Adam and Eve etc.The 2 oz Silver coin comes along with a certificate of authenticity that mentions the specifications. Biblical verses “The Temptation of Jesus” from the Book of Matthew are also featured in the certificate. Gustave Dore used these verses to create the 1865 wood-engraved scene which is replicated on the coin design. An image of the original artwork is depicted on the certificate. The coin is circulated as legal tender in the island of Niue.
Like all other coins in the series, the .999 fine Silver Coin with a rimless design was struck with an antique finish and a high relief. The obverse features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, texts suggesting weight, face value and purity. The unique serial number from 1 to 1499 is engraved on the edge.
