Look who’s staring! It’s not a real owl, but almost seems like one, doesn’t it? The Mongolian Endangered Wildlife coin series has found many fans, especially this one! The 2011 coin features an image of a Ural Owl, a species with very peculiar disc shaped face that inhabits many forests in Central Asia.

The obverse depicts the emblem of the country's national bank and a range of inscriptions like the formal value of the coin, the name of the country, the weight and the purity of the silver it contains.

The reverse features an intricate relief of the bird's body. It looks so real that you feel like you’re holding a real predator in your hands. Two Swarovski stones bring the owl's eyes to life, adding to the beauty of this coin. Other inscriptions include the name of the animal species, the title of the series and the year of issue.
