James Buchanan Commemorative Coin

James Buchanan was an American politician who has served his country as 15th President from 1857 to 1861. He was born in the year 1791 in Mercersburg, Pennsylvania, to a storekeeper James Buchanan and to his wife Elizabeth Speer. He completed his education in local academy and then at Dickinson College in the year 1809. Becoming a president of United States James Buchanan had served his country as 17th United States Secretary of States. In the year 1820, he was also elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, where he remained for the next decade.

The United States of America had issued his 1 Dollar Commemorative coin in the year 2010. The obverse of this coin depicts the portrait of James Buchanan in the centre; with an inscription ‘JAMES BUCHANAN’ at the top and ‘IN GOD WE TRUST 15TH PRESIDENT 1857-1861’ at the bottom. The reverse of the coin depicts ‘STATUE OF LIBERTY’ with 1$ ‘UNITED STATES OF AMERICA’ around.
