Whenever we think of lyrical songs and poems, we tend to remember Sahir Ludhiyanvi’s memorable lyrics. The legendary who wrote songs that mesmerized the all generation was passed away on October 25, 1980.
Sahir started to write Nazm and Gazal and became immensely popular at a very young age. His most well known and seminal work: Mai pal do pal ka shayar hu, kabhi kabhi mere dil mai khayal ata hai, Jinhe naaz hai hind par who kaha hai, Ye desh hai veer jawano ka are in the list of all time favorite numbers even today.
Sahir celebrated as People’s Poet, His use of common men’s perspective in his work remains irreplaceable. He experienced to the fullest extent that which every person undergoes in the face of tragedies.
His poems addressed the fundamental problems of life.
?huun apna ho ya paraya ho
nasl-e-adam ka ?huun hai a?hir
jang mashriq men ho ki maghrib men
amn-e-alam ka ?huun hai a?hir
Is liye ai sharif insano
jang Talti rahe to behtar hai
aap aur ham sabhi ke angan men
sham.a jalti rahe to behtar hai
Sahir Ludhyanvi is no more but his songs and gazal remain in the heart of millions of people still today. The President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee released a commemorative postage stamp depicting late Shri Sahir Ludhianvi on the occasion of his 92nd birth anniversary on March 8th, 2013 at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
