Prince Charles would be celebrating his 70th Birthday on 14th November 2018. On 15th October, the Royal Mint revealed a new coin design that will commemorate this occasion. The coin comes in two denominations £5 and £25 in different compositions such as Brilliant Uncirculated Cupro-nickel, Silver Proof, Silver Proof Peidfort, Gold Proof, Quarter-Ounce platinum proof and platinum proof.
Robert Elderton created the portrait of Prince Charles for the coin. He has also created coin designs for the 40th anniversary of The Queen’s coronation in 1993 and a portrait of HRH The Duke of Sussex on his 21st birthday.
The Royal Mint has always issued commemorative coins to celebrate important Royal occasions like this one.
