Sacagawea belongs to the Shoshone tribe; she was a Lemhi Shoshone woman best known for serving as a member of the Lewis and Clark expedition into the American West—and for being the only woman on the famous excursion. She had also helped to establish cultural contacts with Native American populations in addition to her contributions to natural history.
The United States of America had issued this 1 dollar coin in the year 2010 which has an image of Sacagawea; it was issued to honour her. The obverse of this coin has the portrait of Sacagawea and the reverse of the coin features Hiawatha Belt with 5 arrows bound together.
