The National Association of the State Police of Italy was established in 1968. On 11th September, the Italian Mint released a special 5-Euro Coin to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of this Association.
The obverse of this 18 grams .925 Silver coin features the logo of ANPS, texts Associazione Nazionale della Polizia di Stato, “ANNIVERSARIO”, number “50”, year dates “1968”, “2018” and name of the designer “PETRASSI”. The reverse features two ANPS officials in their uniform, detail from the painting “Saint Michael the Archangel”, an artwork by Guido Reni called Patron Saint of Police Forces which is currently situated in the Church of Saint Mary of Conception in Rome, “R” mint mark for Rome, “5 EURO” and “ASSOCIAZIONE NAZIONALE POLIZIA DI STATO”. The diameter of this coin struck in uncirculated finish is 32 millimetres. The mintage limit of this coin designed by Silvia Petrassi is 5,000 pieces and it can be purchased for € 38.
ANPS works for retired and in-service police officers who join the Association voluntarily. It has 170 Sections in Italy and abroad with two headquarters in Toronto and New York. It’s the guardian of the Medagliere della Polizia di Stato which is a symbol of Sacrifice of the Police personnel and their commitment to citizens security.
