The “Bhishmapitamah” of Bihar BJP, Kailashpati Mishra was born on today, 5th October 1923 in Buxar, Bihar into a Brahmin family. He was a great social servant and political leader.
Mishra took part in the Quit India Movement in 1942 and was arrested for the same. After that he became member of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in 1944.
He appointed Finance Minister of Bihar Government led by Janata Party. In 1980 he became the first BJP Bihar president. He served as BJP national Vice President from 1995 to 2003. He was also served as Governor of Gujarat and Rajasthan.
Kailashpati was died on 2nd November 2012. His funeral will take place with state honour at Bans Ghat on Sunday evening (4 November 2012).
To pay homage to this great leader India post has issued commemorative postage stamp on 26th December 2016.
