Silver Rupee of Muhammad Ibrahim

Muhammad Ibrahim was the eldest son of Rafi-ush-Shan and Nur-un-Nissa Begum. He was the claimant to the Mughal throne on 15th October 1720. He had been designated by the Sayyid brothers as his brother's successor.Muhammad Ibrahim issued coins in gold and silver. This silver rupee which weighs around 11.3g was minted in Dar-ul-Khilafat Shahjahanabad. The obverse of this coin is inscribed with the name and title of the king with the Hijri date. The reverse of this coin inscribed as ‘Julus formula, mint name and regnal year’.
This very rare coin is estimated for INR 25,000 in the upcoming auction of Todywalla which will be held in Chennai on 6th October 2018.
