India is well-known for numbers of different art form, as the country is enriched with enormous talents in all fields. Music is of that art which represent your state of mood. In India, music resides is the very essence of its culture.But we all know that Music is incomplete without singers, as singers have set their trademark in the world with their melodious voice skills. One of these great singers is Lata Mangeshkar who born to this musical land on, 28 September 1929.
Her career started in 1942 and has spanned over seven decades. She has recorded songs in over a thousand Hindi films and has sung songs in many regional Indian and foreign languages, though above all in Marathi and Hindi.
One of the legendary playback singers in India, Lata Mangeshkar has been awarded the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honour. She also bestowed with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, India’s highest award in cinema in 1989 by the Government of India. In 1974, The Guinness Book of Records listed Lata Mangeshkar as the most recorded artist in the history.
To celebrate this melodious queen, S. Tome E Principe issued a commemorative postage stamp in 2009.
