Latvia’s Curonian Kings Stamp

On 7 September the “Latvija Pasts (Latvia Post)” issued a special postage stamp "Curonian Kings" along with a special edition silver coin.Curonian Kings are a one of the important social groups in Latvia with epic and eventful history. The Curonian Kings Group is credited to have shaped Latvia as we see to today. It is said that the group gained their status because their ancestors were the Nobility which granted them a land and some other privileges. They served the duties towards the people.
Designed by Arvids Priedite, the stamp features Peniki Column with Koninciem Coat of Arms in the centre. A man and a woman dressed in typical attire which is a combination of Baltic and Germanic style. The stamp comes with the denomination of 5 Euros.
