Five Shilling of Falkland Islands

This five shilling of Falkland will be sold at Spink’s auctions taking place from 2nd to 4th October 2018 in London. This five shilling consists the date 12 January 1901 with serial number A/100001 and P-A1. It auction also consist one Pound note of Falkland issued after the British took over these from Argentina military invasion. Argentinean militarily occupied these islands for 74 days.These banknotes were issued by the British’s, they introduced Pounds and its adjacent currency to these islands in 1833. The paper currency denominated in Falkland Pound on a par with the pound sterling was issued between 1899 to 1901. The face value of 5 to 10 shillings and 1 to 5 pounds of Prefix P-A1 to P-A4 were circulated.
These notes are the first paper currency of the islands, the estimated price at which these banknotes will be sold is 6000 to 10000 pounds
