BHEL Commemorative Coin

On 7th January 2015, Government of India issued a 5 Rupee Commemorative coin on Bharat Heavy Electrical Limited (BHEL). BHEL is owned by Government of India. It was established in the year 1964. It is an engineering and manufacturing company based in New Delhi. BHEL is India's largest power generation equipment manufacturer.

The Government of India had issued this commemorative coin on the occasion to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of BHEL. This 5 Rupee Commemorative coin weighs around 6gram and the diameter of the coin is around 23mm. These coins of Nickel and Brass were issued from the mint Mumbai Calcutta, Hyderabad and Noida.

The obverse of this coin depicts the logo of Golden Jubilee of BHEL in the centre, with the date 1964-2014 below the inscription ‘Abhijantriki Utkrustata ke Pachas Varsh’ in Devanagari on the upper periphery and the inscription ‘50 YEARS OF ENGINEERING EXCELLENCE’ in Roman at the bottom in the lower periphery. The reverse side of the coin depicts ‘Ashokan Lion’ in the centre with the inscription ‘Satyameva Jayate’ and the value ‘5’ below, the inscription ‘BHARAT’ and ‘INDIA’ is written on the left and right side of the coin.
