Reserve Bank of India (RBI) issued INR 100 (25th June 2015), INR 500 (7th August 2015) and INR 1000 (21st august, 2015) denomination banknotes in the Mahatma Gandhi Series-2005 with a new numbering pattern. These new notes have numerical patterns in ascending size from left to right while the first three alpha-numeric characters remain constant in size.Further new security features i.e. bleed lines, and enlarged size of identification mark has also been introduced along with the ascending numerals. The bleed lines appear below the See Through window and the enlarged identification mark appears above it on the obverse of the note.
This new pattern was introduced to improve the design and the security features of the banknotes and to deter counterfeiting activities.
