“Sword of Justice Fire of Love” Stamp of Italy

‘Sword of Justice Fire of Love Stamp of Italy’ is a unique stamp issued in the year 1922. The stamp is among a set of three stamps issued n September 20, 1922 to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Death of Giuseppe Mazzini who was an Italian politician, journalist, and an activist for the unification of Italy.

The stamps issued in the commemoration of his 50th death anniversary feature the Flame of Patriotism Tempering the Sword of Justice, a portrait of Mazzini, and Mazzini's Mausoleum in Genoa.

The Sword of Justice Fire of Love Stamp is very unique and hopeful stamp. The stamp was made in bright red colour which features a fire altar with the words “Amor” (love) on it and a sword being penetrated in the fire. The stamp is also inscribed with “CINQVANTENARIO MAZZINIANO 1922” at the top and “POST ITALIANE” at the bottom flanked by Cent and 25.

Over the period between 1922 and 1938, there were also many sets of Italian commemorative stamps issued to honor the glory of the Ancient Roman Empire, and these philatelic works-of-art are eagerly sought by stamp collectors Worldwide.
