Muhammad bin Tughluq’s Coin Sold for INR 49,000

Muhammad bin Tughluq was the Sultan of Delhi. He was the eldest son of Ghiyath-ud-din Tughluq of the Tughluq dynasty. He came to power in AD 1325. He was a brilliant ruler. He was the man with innovative thoughts that were far ahead of his time.Muhammad Bin Tughluq issued coins in all metals gold, silver, copper and billon. This gold tanka issued by him in the name of Abbasid Caliph ‘Al-Hakim II’ was sold for INR 49,000 at Todywalla Auction held in Mumbai on 5th August 2018. The name of the caliph is spread on both the side of the coin.
