Royal Mail issued set of 10 stamps to commemorate Captain Cook’s voyages

To commemorate the 250th anniversary of famous British surveyor, cartographer and navigator Captain Cook’s for his great adventures and discoveries through seafaring, Royal Mail issued a set of ten stamps. Captain Cook’s First Voyage was combined effort of Royal Navy and Royal Society expedition to the South Pacific Ocean aboard on HMS Endeavour.These stamps illustrate original images and painting of indigenous people, the landscape of the South Pacific with its beautiful flora and fauna. Many scientists, astronomer and artists were on board the Endeavour who recorded all the finding and discoveries which amazed the scientific minds and society of that time.
Three voyages were undertaken by Captain Cook for the circumnavigation of the earth. Around 5,000 miles of coastlines mapping was done.
