Railways are considered as one of the most important transportation in India. It is also considered as one of the fastest means of transportation which is commonly used by a common people, it a cost-effective means of transport, carry goods carriages for both short and long distances.All the main railway operation in Indian is handled by Indian Railways. It is one of the busiest networks in the world. >The first passenger train in India was started in Bombay from Bori Bunder to Thane on 16th April 1853. This train was run with 14 railway carriages and with 400 guests.
On the occasion of completing 150 years of the Indian Railways, the Indian government issued 2 Rupee Commemorative coins. The obverse of this coin depicts the image of ‘Bholu’ (The mascot of Indian Railways), with the inscription ‘Bholu, The Guard’ written below in Devanagari. The legend ‘Railways 150 Glorious Years’ wrote in Roman and ‘Railway 150 Gouravpurna Varsha’ in Devanagari around ‘Date 2003 is written at the bottom. The reverse of the coin is inscribed with ‘Ashokas Lion’ with the inscription ‘Satyameva Jayate’ and the Value 2 Below, ‘Indian Rupee’ written in Roman to the right and ‘Bharat Rupaye’ written in Devanagari to left.
