Aurangzeb's Gold Mohur listed For INR 75,000

This gold mohur which weighs around 10.9g was issued by Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. This coin was minted in Nusaratabad. This rare coin is listed for INR 75,000 at Todywalla Auction which will be held in Mumbai on 5 August 2018.

Aurangzeb was the third son of Emperor Shah Jahan. He sat on the Mughal throne in the year 1658 AD and ruled it until his death 1707 AD. Aurangzeb ruled the Mughal Empire for almost half-century. During this long period of his reign, he issued the coins in all three metals: gold, silver, and copper.

The obverse of this coin is inscribed as ‘The obverse of the coin is inscribed as ‘Sikka Zad Dar Jahan Chu Mihr-e-Munir Badshah Aurangzeb Alamgir with AH Date’, though the AH date is not clearly seen on this particular coin. The reverse of the coin is inscribed as ‘Julus Formula, RY date, and Mint name’.
