A Cover with Rare Stamps Brought $47,200

The top item at the Kelleher’s auction was sold for $47,200.The aftermath of Kelleher Auction held in Danbury on 2 – 5 Feb was “A special cover with a strip of three 1c Franklin stamps” being sold for $47,200.
Sent from Maryland to Ohio, the cover bears 3 cancelled stamps featuring Franklin with 1c denomination. One of the stamps is identified as a type I of that issue.
The speciality of this stamp is that it shows the complete scrollwork at one position and only 110 examples are known.
The strip of stamps large margins virtually all around with adjacent stamps visible at the bottom, clearly displaying the key bottom ornaments.
This Rare beauty had been sold for $47,200.
