The Bombay Stock Exchange is an Indian stock exchange located at Dalal Street, it was formed in Mumbai (then Bombay) on July 9th 1875. It claims to be the world's fastest stock exchange, with a median trade speed of 6 microseconds.The BSE Ltd is the oldest stock exchange in Asia had a very humble beginning under a Banyan Tree in Mumbai’s town hall. As the number of brokers was continually increasing the venue of their meeting changed many times. In 1874, the group finally moved to Dalal Street and in 1875 the group became an official organization known as The Native Share and Stockbrokers Association.
The BSE is the world's 10th largest stock exchange with an overall market capitalization of more than $2.3 trillion on as of April 2018.
India post has issued 500 Paisa (5 Rupee) commemorative postage stamp on the completion of 140th year of BSE.
