Canada Issues Coins to Celebrate Major Military Accomplishments

The Royal Canadian Mint released two coins to celebrate important military achievements of the country. The 2018 $20 Fine Silver Coin First World War Allied Forces: Newfoundland honours the brave men of Allied forces which ended War on 11th November 1918. Soldiers of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment are featured on the coin. They played an important role in battles like Beaumont Hamel and The Somme.

The $20 Fine Silver Coin Second World War Battlefront Series – The Invasion of Sicily features a Canadian dispatch rider on a motorcycle. Operation Husky had helped Canadian troops reach the Sicilian town of Pachino in July 1943.

A “Filigree Gate Technology” 2 oz. coin celebrates the 2018 $30 Fine Silver Coin – 110th Anniversary of the Royal Canadian Mint. The coin features the façade of the Mint’s Ottawa facility behind a black wrought iron gate. The Mint became operational in 1908 and mainly produces bullion and numismatic coins.
