Ahmad Shah Durrani was the founder of Durrani Empire, he is also considered as the founder of the modern State of Afghanistan. The real name of Ahmad Shah Durrani was Ahmad Khan Abdali.After the assassination of Nader Shah Afshar in the year 1747, Ahmad Shah Durrani was a chosen as the next king of Afghanistan. Before being elected as the king he was General under the Persian emperor Nadir Shah. After becoming a king Durrani built a vast empire that extended from eastern Persia to northern India and from the Amu Darya to the Indian Ocean.
This rare copper Dam was issued by Ahmad Shah Durrani from the mint Peshawar. The obverse of the coin is inscribed with the name and title of Ahmad Shah Durrani. The reverse of the coin is inscribed with the mint name ‘Peshawar’.
