Union of Art and Science on Greece's Stamps
2018-06-20 Wed
Does Art Imitate Life or Does Life Imitate Art?Greece – one of the most beautiful countries in the world has recently issued a set of five bright stamps that show a beautiful mélange of Art and Science.
The stamps show alluring images captured through the eye of a microscope. Pathologists often come across an amazing world of cells which unintentionally form images and scenes that are as beautiful as any painting.
These stamps are to reveal surreal beauty hiding in the tiny world of cells beyond human vision. These images were captured by Dr Maria Lambropoulou, a pathologist and associate professor of histology-embryology at the Democritus University of Thrace Medical School.
Ranging from 10 cents to 2 Euros, the stamps show microscopic art that resembles flowers, a butterfly, a heart, a wreath and a deer.
