Silver Sasnu of Kashmir Sultan Muhammad Ghazi Shah

This beautiful Silver Sasnu was issued by Kashmir ruler Muhammad Ghazi Shah. Muhammad Ghazi Shah had ruled Kashmir Sultanate for a very short period from 1555 CE till 1562 CE. As a result of his short reign, coins issued by him are very rare.Only the silver coins issued by him are known so far, most of his coins were struck in the name of Mughal emperor Akbar. Coins which were struck with his name Muhammad Ghazi were struck in the Hijri year 969 and 970.
The obverse of this coin is inscribed with the name of and title of the king ‘Nasir Al-Din Muhammad Ghazi’, with the Hijri date 969. The reverse of this coin is inscribed with the mint name Kashmir.
