The Perth Mint recently released a new 5oz 99.99% pure silver proof high relief coin depicting the 2018 Australian koala design.

Mintage limit of the coin is 500 pieces. The reverse features one of the country’s most loved marsupials - koala, amidst branches of a flowering eucalyptus tree. Other inscriptions include AUSTRALIAN KOALA, ‘P’ mintmark, and Year date 2018. The obverse features an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II along with an inscription of the monetary denomination. Both sides have concave surfaces so that the flow of metal is great when the coin is struck.

The coin comes in a classic grey display case within a themed shipper along with a numbered Certificate of Authenticity. Natasha Muhl created the reverse design and is known for her motifs based on animals, birds, gems, and ocean life. The coin has a face value of 8 Dollars (AUD) and a thickness of 11.000 mm with a reeded edge.
