2018-06-07 Thu

Heritage Auctions’ Hong Kong World Currency Signature Auction is going to offer more than 700 Chinese and other Asian banknotes from 27th to 29th June in Hong Kong. Interested collectors can bid for these banknotes online as well.

Old banknotes issued by the People’s Republic of China are rare in any condition. A 1953 10 Yuan will be offered in PMG Choice Uncirculated 64 condition. Two similar notes were offered for more than $40,000 last year. Two other notes of the same type, graded AU 55 and Choice Extremely Fine 45 Net will also be offered this time.

A 2 Kuan very large note, printed on mulberry paper using charcoal dye somewhere between 1335 and 40, will be offered in Fine 15 grade by PCGS. It depicts two stacks of 10 cash coins at the centre. The designs are intact and well-preserved.

Another highlight is a Specimen $10000 issued by the Board of Commissioners of Currency to represent Brunei, Malaya, North Borneo, Sarawak, and Singapore, graded Extremely Fine 45 by PCGS. Several other interesting notes from China, Japan, Malaya, and Thailand would be offered at the auctions.
