The National Bank of Romania is going to release a gold coin featuring the forerunner of the Great Union - Michael the Brave. The Proof coin with a milled edge has a face value of 100 lei and a mintage limit of 250 pieces. It is made of 6.452 grams of 900‰ fine gold and has a diameter of 21 mm. They are legal tender within Romania.

The obverse features Michael the Brave riding into Alba Iulia. Other inscriptions include “ROMANIA”, “100 LEI”, “2018” and the coat of arms of Romania. The reverse features a portrait of Michael the Brave along with the inscriptions “MIHAI VITEAZUL” and “PRECURSOR AL MARII UNIRI”.

The coins come in transparent plastic capsules with leaflets featuring an explanation of the coin in Romanian, English, and French. Each leaflet has a certificate of authenticity with the signatures of the Governor and the Chief Cashier of the National Bank of Romania. The coin can be purchased for lei 1,695.
