Emperor Akbar was the third ruler of the Mughal Dynasty in India from 1556 to 1605 AD. The coinage of Akbar reflects the power of this mighty emperor. His coinage was most exquisite and varied among the ones that were minted by other Mughal emperors.This soulful and beautiful silver Rupee of Akbar was minted at Agra. The obverse of a coin bears the Persian legend ‘Allah Hu Akbar Jalla Jalalahu’. The reverse of this coin is inscribed with legend ‘Zarb Agra 50 Ilahi Amardad’. Both sides of a coin emulating Mughal architectural design and legend depicts within in beautiful eight petal lotus border.
This coin was sold for 1,55,000 by Classical Numismatic Gallery.
