Rare Chinese Postage Stamp to be Auctioned

2018-05-24 Thu

Kelleher and Rogers Auctions is going to offer a very rare Chinese stamp in Hong Kong on 25th and 26th May. The 1968 8-fen The Whole Country is Red stamp was issued in Canton. This stamp was immediately withdrawn because Taiwan appears white instead of red on the map.

The offered stamp is very fresh and is a beautiful top margin example with perfect centering. These stamps are generally not found in good condition. However, the offered stamp is in never-hinged original gum condition with uniform perforations.

This stamp has a listed market value of $135,000 in good unrepaired condition. The offered stamp has an estimated value of $750,000 to $850,000.

Apart from Chinese stamps, postal history and collections, Imperial issues, local posts, the auction will also offer interesting stamps from Taiwan, the People’s Republic of China, Hong Kong, Japan and other Asian countries.
