Silver Nazarana Rupee of Vikramjit Mahendra

This is a beautiful silver broad flan Nazarana Rupee of Vikramjit Mahendra of Orcha. This rupee was minted in the name of Shah Alam II. The obverse of the coin is inscribed with Persian legend which is read as ‘Sahib-e-Qiran Sani Ilah Hami Deen Muhammad Shah Alam Bashah’. The reverse of this coin bears the legend ‘Zarb Orcha Sanah 46 Julus Mainamat Mainamat Manus’ with mac mint mark.This coin is listed at INR 50,000 to 60,000 at Classical Numismatic Gallery for upcoming Auction.
Rulers of Orchha minted coins in copper and silver. These coins were known as Gaja Shahi because it most commonly bore the symbol of a mace (Gaja) on the reverse.
