Square Gold Tanka of Sultan Ghiyath Shah of Malwa

Ghiyath Shah ruled the Malwa Sultanate from 1456–1469 as heir apparent and from 1469–1500 as sultan of the Malwa Sultanate.Ghiyath Shah, son of Mahmud I, began his career as a military leader and later took on a significant role in his father's administration. As heir apparent, he gained the right to strike coins in his name, with the earliest known coin dated to the Hijri year 861.
Ghiyath Shah issued a square tanka weighing 11g during his rule. The obverse is inscribed "Al-Wathiq bi'l Malik Al-Multaji Abul Fath Ghiyath Shah," and the reverse reads "Bin Mahmud Shah Al-Khalji Al-Sultan Khallada Mulkahu."
