The Royal Australian Mint released 5,555,550 colourful $2 coins featuring the eternal flame at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra on the reverse to celebrate ANZAC Day which is observed annually on 25th April. The mint produced this coin in association with Department of Veterans’ Affairs and the Australian War Memorial. It is a part of the Anzac Centenary Coin Program.
The eternal flame gives homage to all the 102,800 men and women who sacrificed their lives for the nation in war and operations for more than 100 years. The obverse depicts the common portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. An Uncirculated version of the coin with a C Mint mark will also be released. These can be purchased from RAM’s website.
