Aurangzeb’s Quarter Rupee Sold for INR 43,000

This silver Quarter Rupee was issued by Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb, it was sold for INR 43,000 by Oswal Auctions held in Mumbai.Aurangzeb Alamgir was the sixth emperor of the Mughal dynasty, he ruled from 1658 to 1707 AD. Aurangzeb was the third son of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal . His reign lasted for almost half a century until his death in 1707 CE. During his reign, he conducted various military campaigns to extend the frontiers of the vast Mughal Empire.
This silver quarter anna was issued by him in the Hijri year 1071 during the 3rd year of his reign. The obverse of this coin depicts the name and title of the king and the reverse of this coin depicts the mint name ‘Akbarabad’ and Hijri date 1071.
